Southview Adult Day Services

Southview Adult Day Services is a day care center for Alzheimer’s patients. For 21 years, the center has provided an outstanding opportunity for practical nursing students at the Northland Career Center, every January through June.

As part of the program, students have the opportunity to learn first hand from the staff and patients about the Alzheimer’s disease process. The care required and the impact on families is a lesson that can’t be learned from a book alone.

In 21 years, all of the students have evaluated Southview as one of their most positive learning experiences. This partnership began when Northland Career Center established its practical nursing program. Southview was one of the first organizations to step forward. Today, This modest-sized medical office provides a large learning experience for 30 students each school year, one student at a time!
