The Northland Education & Business Alliance set new goals for the coming year, including scheduling the second annual Star Partner Award Luncheon in February 2010.
Sponsored by the Clay County Economic Development Council, NEBA held its annual business meeting Oct. 1 at the Park Hill School District offices. With more than 40 educators and business leaders in attendance, Co-Chairs Mindy McCallum, dean of instruction at Maple Woods Community College, and Dennis Fisher, Park Hill District superintendent, led the session.
Steve Brainard, chair of the EDC Marketing committee which originally organized NEBA, noted all NEBA program are geared to continue improved quality to the area’s workforce, while recognizing companies that have most supported those efforts.
“We think that education is the backbone of a healthy workforce which in turn is the foundation of a solid economy,” he said.
Steering Committee Chair Gene Hanson and Communications Chair Mary Jo Burton noted efforts continue to organize the Star Partner Luncheon and update NEBA’s communications, including the Web site www.northlandschools.com.
